If you’re selling a home on Salt Spring Island, the goal is to sell the property for the highest possible price in the shortest period of time.
In order for that to happen though, you have to remember that presentation and effective marketing can make a huge difference. Today’s Salt Spring home buyers will do the vast majority of research on-line. If your home does not have a great on-line presence it may be overlooked.
SO WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE?
If you are considering selling your home on Salt Spring Island, careful planning and preparing your home for sale are key. I will walk through your home with you and we can discuss all of the areas that should be addressed prior to sale. Your home needs to show it’s best in order to sell for the highest possible price.

ABOUT SELLING A HOME
When it comes to SELLING A HOME, there are a few things I like my clients to know:
It always PAYS TO FIX IT
Home buyers will make a decision on your home before they even step out of the car. A broken fence or a house that lacks curb appeal will detract some buyers. Take a look at your house from the eyes of a buyer…if you see areas that need to be fixed/painted or repaired, do it prior to listing your home for sale.
Sell your Salt Spring house NOT YOUR HOME
You may love to display your collection of antique dolls or the vibrant paint colours that make your home ‘unique’ and suit your personality. The issue is, the potential buyer isn’t you…and it is imperative that the house appeals to the widest possible audience. This means putting the doll collection away and toning down the wall colour. Think of yourself as a buyer and let them decide for themselves on how they will personalize the property to suit their tastes.
Make the effort to SET THE STAGE
We all have a favourite chair or comfy sofa that we love to sit down on. Sometimes our favourite piece of furniture may be a tad big for a room and will actually make the room look smaller than it really is. That’s just one example of why staging a home and correct furniture placement is key when preparing a home for sale. I will walk through your home with you and we will go room by room to determine the best possible configuration of furniture, accessories and lighting.
Remember to KEEP UP APPEARANCES
Now the tough part…living in a show house. You’ve done all this work to prepare the house for sale and you are listed. That means that everyday you are on the market a potential buyer may come through your house. Take a moment before you head out to start your day by making sure beds are made, kitchen counters and sink are tidy and everything put away. You just never know if today is the day your buyer comes!
